Responsible sourcing
Value that doesn'tcost someone else.
A mineral is only worth trading if it was mined legally and fairly. These are the lines we hold with every supplier, and how we check them.
Our red lines
Four things wenever compromise on.
Our red lines
No conflict minerals
We do not knowingly buy minerals that fund armed groups or come from areas where serious human-rights abuses are linked to mining.
No child or forced labour
We will not trade material produced with child labour or forced labour. Where risk is higher, as in some mica and artisanal gold supply chains, we ask for more evidence and visit when we can.
Legal origin only
Every supplier must hold a valid licence, and every export must carry the correct permits and royalty payments for the country of origin.
Open about treatments
Gemstone treatments are always disclosed. A buyer should never discover a treatment after the sale.

Artisanal and small-scale miners
Working with, not around, small miners
Millions of people earn a living from small-scale mining of gold and gemstones. Refusing to buy from them often pushes their output into informal, untraceable channels.
We prefer to buy from licensed small-scale miners and cooperatives that can show where material came from, and we favour gold processed without mercury.
Environment
Mines are temporary. Land is not.
- Suppliers must hold the environmental approvals their licence requires.
- We ask how water, waste rock and tailings are managed.
- We favour operations with a plan to restore the land when mining ends.
- We prefer efficient logistics: consolidated shipments and sea freight for bulk.
Raise a concern
